Theme: La Francophonie

French is not only spoken in France—la francophonie refers to the community of French speakers around the world. This global cultural network shows that French language and culture extend far beyond France métropolitaine.

France métropolitaine is the part of France located in Europe, while Outre‑mer includes overseas departments and territories such as Martinique, Guadeloupe, La Réunion, French Guiana, and Mayotte. Each of these areas has its own unique culture and traditions while sharing the French language.

For example, you might say: "La cuisine de la Martinique (Martinican cuisine) est très épicée (spicy)," reinforcing that familiar vocabulary like la cuisine (cuisine) is used alongside new cultural details.
